CR

Throughout the duration of this film, my goal was to touch on a topic that branches out in so many different topics. Whether it be depression, neglect, miss treatment, character development, ignorance. All things that many people do struggle with. Being able to represent these different issues through a directors standpoint, or even an editors standpoint was definitely a struggle, but it was worthwhile. I feel my group members, and I worked really hard throughout this entire process to make sure that these different things represented, even through the music used in the film and the actors. But most of all the time and energy put into making this film come to life.   The film itself played a very big role on representing social issues. Especially social groups.  The film addresses things like poverty. Being in a lower social can be a real struggle sometimes. It is not something that should be played with I honestly think it needed more insight which is why I thought this...

Template

Today I decided to work on the website again today. I haven’t started the editing process yet. Me being the teams personal software designer, puts editing under my umbrella of work. I haven’t chosen to start editing since all the clips aren’t in the proper place yet. We aren’t completely done with the filming process but we will be soon. My director is amazing, Rashell really knows what she is doing and I am so proud that she has the position. Technically I would be able to start editing now. In my opinion though I believe that makes the process longer and harder when I receive all the clips and that is exactly what we don’t want to do. So I am just going to wait for my team to get the perfect shots they need and start. Instead of doing that I made my decision on my template. I decided to go with the sophisticated template I was telling you about. Today I decided that it was the best choice because it was everything that we were looking for. I realized today that with the proper w...

First day back at it

Image
Today I worked on our website for the short film. Today I decided on whether I would be making it from scratch using JavaScript or use a template website to build it. I ended up deciding that we were going to go with the second option. Our group will be using Wix to build our website. I believe that this was the best decision not because of how it would look but instead because of the amount of time that we have. Wix would be the best way to make our website look good in this short amount of time. Not only that I am very proud in my web designing abilities to not let my group down. They are all working hard to make this film look good and I will do the same. Not only that this website will reflect that.  Upon figuring out the means to building the website I also  narrowed our options to 3 templates. The templates being one that’s more fun, a sophisticated one, and one with a strong feminine aesthetic. I was able to single it down to those three and will be able to comple...

The Motion of The Film

Image
The process of the short film titled "A happy ending" or filming any film would need things like a location, props, actors, health and safety, costumes, a schedule and of course a backup plan. Schedule- As for schedule, we are still working on it. we wanted to finalize all filming and wrap up editing by the end of spring break so that when come time to turn in the short film, we are more than prepared. Location-For Location, we were thinking of filming in thee standard places. A supermarket(Publix), Nyla's house, a parking lot at Nyla's house, an a park with pretty lights. There will probably be other places like down the street but those will all be scenes leading up to arriving at those specific Locations. We plan on utilizing each location at different times of the day seeing as we want o use the lighting to help represent the characters emotion Participants- As of right now, our participants consist of Nyla, David, Nyla's mom, and Rashell. Of course David and...

Research: How to make a short Film

Image
What is the take away from the video?   I have taken into account all the factors and requirements for making a film. In addition to writing tips, I learned about production steps and post-production procedures. As a result of this experience, I have learned how to better prepare myself for filming than I have in the past.    What good information did you gather while watching  it?   Throughout the entire production of the film, budgeting and resources will be crucial. You can shorten a film by cutting out unnecessary scenes until you're unable to continue, thus reducing it to just the highlights. An important part of making a film is preparation. The storyboard may still change during the making of the film even if you create an entire one. Let the story be guided by a theme and a tone. If you do not do so, it will confuse the audience. Lastly, taking care of your cast is important because if you do not have respect them, they may not make it as easy t...

Comparing Le Jetee, the short, and 12 monkeys, the full-length movie

Image
What is the take away from the video?   I have gained knowledge and identified all the aspects and things needed to make a film. As a result, I learned how to write, how to produce, and how to post-produce. I learned that I could be better prepared for future filming.    What good information did you gather while watching  it?   The entire production process will require you to budget and utilize the resources you have at your disposal. When editing, cut the scenes down until you can't anymore which will result in the film being reduced to just the most significant parts. The key to making a successful film is preparation. Storyboards are never final; the film may still need to be altered. Stick to a theme and a tone and let it guide the story. If you do not do so, it will confuse the audience. Last but not least, if you don't respect your cast, they may not make it easy to film.  How do you envision this helping you through your short film process? ...

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

Image
In 9 the short film, the plot was very straightforward. It didn't really entail many abnormal distinct features that added to plot. There was very limited character development. In relation to the characters, we didn't see much of the main character "9" opinion or character. Regardless, the maker did an amazing job with the character distinction with the time given. The viewer was able to identify the main protagonist and antagonist with those simple ten minutes. In addition there was a clear beginning middle and end. The main antagonist was able to be portrayed in the correct manner with the limited amount of viewing given. This is something that is extremely difficult to do with the genre and time given but the plot and character roles were very identifiable.  In 9 the full- length film, the plot was taken in a completely different direction. The character development was more established. The viewer was able to gain a better understanding and feelings toward the ...

Our genre decision

Image
We decided that a Drama film was the appropriate genre that matched our pitch. A drama matches a specific criteria,  that we want to meet so it would be easier to incorporate different things into the opening sequence without it being considered unorganized. The music is also a choice that we can make, with the proper permission. Seeing as we can use a song with or without words because both tend to be normal for those kinds of blogs, whether it be spooky or calm and relaxed, or even intense. The costuming and acting is entirely off of what we decide to make our story about. Drama is honestly the simplest and easiest to work with. Out other two choices were coming of age and comedy. We can easily incorporate both if those into a drama and kill three birds with one stone. At first we felt as if it would be hard to try and incorporate all of that into one sequence but we realized that if we did drama, we wouldn’t even have to incorporate “all” of anything. Our fina...

Genre Research- Comedy

Image
CAMS- Most comedy films don’t have camera work in their opening sequences but when making the film their CAMS would be.. Tracking Shots and Pan shots to follow specific characters  POV shots (they always have atleast one scene where they show a situation from the characters perspective.) MIS-EN-SCENE- not a lot of this in an opening sequence but when there is it’s normally… costumes can honestly range depending on the type of film but are usually pretty casual teenage clothing, nothing out if the ordinary  makeup if not a cartoon or something of that nature is natural, nothing dramatic unless the character has a specific look to portray props would be based on scenes. lighting all depends on location but it is usually bright because of the happy feeling the comedy is trying to give off but it may vary depending on the film (for example scary movie) the acting always depends on the plot, which is normally depending on whether the main character is a girl or boy if ...
